Saying, “I’m a retired teacher, or nurse, or cop” means you might be afraid to let go of your past identity. And for good reason…!
Letting go of one’s identity is scary…
Until you transition to a new identity.

Unless you are going to continue in your same profession until your last breath, you are all going to go through this RE-INVENTION process. Most do it unconsciously.
I recommend being very conscious about the transition process, which means knowing how these transitions happen.
